My winter wardrobe was definitely in need of some additional items this year. This time last year I was on maternity leave and was around 10kg heavier than I am now so a lot of my winter clothes from last year just weren’t going to cut it for this year.
I’ve been fairly discerning about any additions to my wardrobe lately. It’s partly that I’m embracing more minimalism in my life and partly that I don’t want to spend unnecessary money on clothes that I’m not going to get the best use out of.
With that in mind, I’ve added a few items to my wardrobe over the past month or so (the cold snap came on fast this year!) to round out my winter wardrobe.
Additions to my winter wardrobe
This Scooped Rib Dress in Black from Country Road ticks all the boxes for me. It’s a great versatile option – it looks great dressed down as a casual option for winter but also looks great at work. I especially love it with tan boots and a scarf.
I mentioned on an Instagram post lately that I had been on the lookout for a light coloured scarf for a while and when I saw this Geo Spot Scarf from Marcs I knew that it was perfect. I love the colours and pattern and it adds a great light element and a pop of colour to my winter outfits.
I love knits in autumn and winter. Living in Canberra where winter is actually cold means a good stash of knits is essential. I like mine slightly oversized and tucked into jeans with a pair of tan ankle boots. I’m loving all the green colours in stores right now and I picked up this Rib Wool Cashmere V-Neck knit in Dark Forest from Trenery which is super warm and oversized enough for layering underneath in the cold of winter. I also picked up this Breton Striped Merino Knit in Night Sky from Trenery which has gorgeous green stripes as something a bit different from the standard navy or black and white breton stripes. The other new knit I picked up for winter is this Flocked Star Knit in Navy from Country Road. I love the super cute print and the little flocked stars.
I generally hate jeans shopping. I find it really hard to find a really good fitting pair of jeans that sit just right (and don’t sit awkwardly on my c-section scar) and are comfortable enough to run around after Grace in. I found these Super Skinny Jeans in Absolute Indigo and the same in Absolute Black which are perfect. They are amazingly comfortable and versatile enough to be worn with just about anything.
I pretty much live in boots come winter and I love tan ankle boots. They go with everything and add some much-needed lightness and colour to some of my darker winter outfits. I love the pair of tan FRANKiE4 boots I own from last season and I have just added the new iZZY Tan Boots from FRANKiE4 which I think are going to be my go-to boot of the winter! All my FRANKiE4 shoes are amazingly comfortable and I really love the cut of these boots, they’re perfect for casual weekend looks as well as wearing to work with tights and a dress!
These gorgeous items are the perfect additions to my winter wardrobe. They’re great quality so they’ll last for at least a couple of seasons, and are versatile enough that I’ll get a lot of wear out of them. I’m really looking forward to living in these items this winter!
